Tara is a graduate of Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville where she received a bachelor’s degree in nursing. While there, she was presented the Georgia College Association of Nursing Students’ Margie Johnson award for community service in 2010. Tara also holds a master’s degree in nursing from the family nurse practitioner program at Georgia Regents University in Augusta.
Tara began her nursing career as a registered nurse with St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens where she cared for patients in the neuroscience, neurointensive care, and palliative care units. More recently, she served as a nurse practitioner with the gastroenterology services division of Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.
Tara is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is also a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. In addition, she holds certifications from the American Heart Association in both basic and advanced cardiac life support.
She joined Gastroenterology Associates of Athens in 2018.
