Dr. Patel is an honors graduate of the University of Georgia in Athens where he received a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. After receiving his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, he completed his pediatric internship and residency at Westchester Medical Center/Maria Fereri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, N.Y. Dr. Patel then completed a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill-Cornell Medical Center in New York, N.Y.
Prior to joining Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates, Dr. Patel was in private practice in South Carolina for five years and served as clinical assistant professor of pediatrics for the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He is a member of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. For the fourth consecutive year, he was named to Atlanta Magazine's 'Top Doctors' guide in gastroenterology by Castle Connolly Medical, Ltd.
Dr. Patel’s primary areas of clinical interest include inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, chronic constipation, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and eosinophilic esophagitis. He is fluent in Gujarati and joined the practice’s Pediatric & Adolescent Division in 2014.
