Areas of Interest

After receiving his bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Dr. Patel earned his medical degree from the UAB School of Medicine. Following his residency at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, he completed a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Tennessee Health Science in Memphis, where he served as chief fellow.

During undergraduate school, Dr. Patel was elected to the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, and during medical school was honored for his work in correlative pathology. In addition to several presentations at gastroenterology conferences, he has been published in the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology.

Dr. Patel is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He joined Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates in 2016.
