Dr. Girish Anand is a graduate of Dr. M.G.R. University, Christian Medical College, in Vellore, India, where he received a combined bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery degree. Following an internship and work in the Department of Hematology in Vellore, he came to the United States and completed his internship in internal medicine at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During his residency there, he served as both Assistant Chief Resident and Chief Resident in the Department of Medicine. He then completed a fellowship in gastroenterology and served as Chief Fellow in the Division of Gastroenterology.

After completing a second fellowship in advanced therapeutics at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center - Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Anand returned to Albert Einstein Medical Center as Associate Director of Endoscopy. He was named Director of Endoscopy for the Division of Gastroenterology in 2009.

Dr. Anand has been widely published and has contributed to several book chapters on a variety of GI topics, including dysphagia, esophageal obstruction, impedance - pH monitoring, and liver disease. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and both the Medical Council of India and the Delhi Medical Council. In 2011, Dr. Anand was named to Philadelphia Magazine’s list of ‘Top Docs,’ and for the last eight consecutive years, he has been named to Atlanta Magazine's 'Top Doctors' guide in gastroenterology by Castle Connolly Medical, Ltd.

In addition to general gastroenterology, Dr. Anand has a special interest in pancreatobiliary diseases. His expertise in advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures includes endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and cholangioscopy.

Dr. Anand joined Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates in 2011, and currently serves as Chief of Gastroenterology at Northside Hospital.

Traveling with my family, being involved with my sons fencing activities and competitions.
