Areas of Interest

A magna cum laude graduate of Boston University, Dr. Weinberg received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Mass. During his residency at Boston University Medical Center, he served as a research assistant at the VA Boston Healthcare System and Harvard Medical School, where his focus was pancreatic cancer and Barrett’s esophagus.

Dr. Weinberg completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Florida, UF Health/Shands, in Gainesville. As a research assistant there, he conducted quality improvement research on adherence to guideline-based intervals for screening and surveillance colonoscopy.

He has been a frequent presenter at national conferences, including “Digestive Disease Week 2016,” and has been published in Diseases of the Esophagus and Gastroenterology. Dr. Weinberg also is the author of a chapter on esophageal varices in “Ferri’s Clinical Advisor,” a collection of diagnostic and treatment information. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

In addition to general gastroenterology and hepatology, he has a special interest in quality measures for screening and surveillance colonoscopy. Dr. Weinberg enjoys playing tennis, basketball, and spending time with his wife and young daughter.

He joined Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates in 2016.
