Summary of Duties:

Responsible for infusing and all aspects of adult and pediatric patient care involving intravenous infusions of biologics, such as Remicade, Entyvio, Cimzia, Injectofer, Venofer, Stelara and/or Tysabri. Responsible for assisting physicians and management with all clinical, clerical, and organizational tasks revolving around adult and pediatric patient care for infusion services. (PRN)


Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Monitors schedule and organizes patient flow for infusion services
  • Collects patient history and provides feedback to the physicians as to any concerns or issues arising between infusions
  • Manages patient charts to ensure clinical information is completed and filed appropriately
  • Ensures that each patient has completed, signed and current order, consent and TB test prior to administering IV infusion
  • Has knowledge of drug uses and dosage requirements; ensures all medications are up to date
  • Calls in prescription refills to pharmacies as needed
  • Performs upkeep for infusion center with regards to sterilization and infection control, supplies, and equipment
  • Performs emergency lifesaving procedures if necessary
  • Accurately provides or counsels patients and/ or relatives with pertinent information regarding IV infusion, Remicade, Tysabri, and relative diseases such as ulcerative colitis and crohn’s disease
  • Answers emails and voicemails and returns patient calls in a timely and efficient manner
  • Completes requests for information from other AGA staff and ensures that they are handled promptly and effectively to guarantee payment on patient accounts
  • Abides by and promotes HIPAA compliance; maintains strictest confidentiality with regards to patient information
  • Abides by, promotes and ensures regulatory compliance, including but not limited to OSHA, state and federal laws, etc.
  • Participates in staff meetings as directed by the Imaging and Infusion Manager
  • Cross trains and performs other office functions including phone triage, check-in/check-out, scheduling, pre- certification, or medical records as directed by the Office Manager
  • Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures and protocols for the infusion department
  • Ensure preventative maintenance is completed for all necessary equipment at least annually
  • Maintain record of annual preventative maintenance
  • Check inventory and order supplies for all infusion centers
  • Assess functionality of equipment
  • Oversee and ensure regulatory compliance for all infusion centers
  • Maintain record of daily infection control logs (room, temp, and refrigerator)
  • Monitor medications for expiration
  • Conduct visual inspection of all infusion centers
  • Meet with each of the infusion nurses to provide and receive feedback
  • Meet with the leadership team monthly
  • Meet with leadership team and medical director quarterly
  • Assist with performance evaluations and quality reviews for clinical staff
  • Provide input and feedback into infusion processes
  • Assist in development and implementation of clinical tools and resources to improve the quality of care and efficiency of the infusion process
  • Any other duties and/or special projects as assigned


Registered Nurse and CPR Certification Required. 3-5 years of infusion experience preferred. PIC line placement experience preferred but not required. Excellent IV skills required. Must be computer literate and able to operate healthcare system and multiple Microsoft Office applications.


Infusion Nurse (RN) Clinical Lead must be able to:

  • Possesses the ability to deal with patients, visitors, co-workers, and physicians with courtesy and respect
  • Displays a professional outgoing warm and helpful attitude
  • Possesses compassion for dealing with people who are ill and need help
  • Plan, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks as delegated by the Imaging and Infusion Manager
  • Work under pressure; assess, respond, and communicate issues in a timely manner
  • Communicate clearly with patients and coworkers through the telephone, email, and in-person
  • Interpret and apply clinical and non-clinical policies and procedures


Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment; travel within the Metro area required.
