Michael C. Windham, MD

Dr. Windham is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago where he received a bachelor’s degree in biology and was selected as a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society. He furthered his education by completing postgraduate work in genetics at the University of Memphis in Tennessee before receiving his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford. Dr. Windham completed his internship and residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis and his fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. In addition, he received focused training in inflammatory bowel diseases at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Prior to joining Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates in 2014, Dr. Windham served as a hospitalist for hospitals in Tennessee and Virginia. He has also presented at a national gastroenterology conference on various topics, including celiac sprue and colitis. He is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American College of Physicians.

In addition to general gastroenterology, Dr. Windham has special interests in colon cancer screening, inflammatory bowel diseases, GERD, and small bowel diseases.
