Financial Counselor I: Lawerenceville Office Lawerenceville, Georgia 30046

Summary of Duties: 

Responsible for financially securing patient accounts for all ancillary services, including verifying benefits, managing referrals, obtaining service authorization and notifying patients.

Duties include but are not limited to:
- Monitors schedule, verifies benefits, and manages referrals/authorizations prior to day of appointment for all patients having, outpatient procedures in a hospital, in-office procedures, and emergency add-on procedures in the offices.
- Calculates and notifies patients of payments, co-pays, and deductibles
- Works with self-pay patients and set up payment plans 
- Collects and records accurate patient and insurance information according to the AGA, LLC documentation requirements
- Accurately provides or counsels patients and/or relatives with pertinent information regarding payment for medical treatment or procedures
- Has a strong knowledge and understanding of different insurance plans 
- Meets or exceeds quality and productivity standards as set by the Ancillary Project Manager
- Answers emails and voicemails and returns patient calls in a timely and efficient manner
- Completes requests for information from other AGA, LLC staff and ensures that they are handled promptly and effectively to guarantee payment on patient accounts
- Abides by and promotes HIPAA compliance; maintains strictest confidentiality with regards to patient information
- Participates in staff meetings as directed by the Ancillary Project Manager
- Participates in marketing activities as directed by the Ancillary Project Manager
- Cross trains and performs other office functions including phone triage, check-in/check-out, scheduling, pre- certification, or medical records as directed by the Ancillary Project Manager
- Any other duties and/or special projects as assigned

High School Diploma or GED required; Certified Medical Assistant preferred, 2-3 years of specialty clinical experience, gastroenterology experience preferred.   Financial Counselor must be computer literate and able to operate Greenway and Microsoft Office applications.

Financial Counselor must be able to:
- Possesses the ability to deal with patients, visitors, co-workers, and physicians with courtesy and respect
- Displays a professional outgoing warm and helpful attitude
- Possesses compassion for dealing with people who are ill and need help
- Plan, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks as delegated by the Ancillary Project Manager
- Work under pressure; assess, respond, and communicate issues in a timely manner
- Communicate clearly with patients and coworkers through the telephone, email, and in-person
- Interpret and apply clinical and non-clinical policies and procedures

Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment; travel within the Metro area required.
