Areas of Interest

Following completion of his undergraduate degree at Emory University, Dr. Haywood began his medical studies there. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed both his internship and residency at Temple University in Philadelphia.

As a student, Dr. Haywood received several honors and awards including National Merit Scholar, Phi Sigma Biological Honor Society, Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellow and was the recipient of the Walter Croll Scholarship at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

He began a clinical fellowship in gastroenterology at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and returned to Atlanta in 2000, where he completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at Emory University Hospital. Dr. Haywood has been in private practice since 2003 and joined Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates in 2008.
