Following completion of his undergraduate degree at Rutgers University, Dr. Brandenburg received his medical degree from Georgetown Medical School. He completed his internship and residency at Rhode Island Hospital, which is affiliated with Brown University. He also completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Emory University in Atlanta.
Upon completion of his fellowship, Dr. Brandenburg went into private practice in 1977 and joined Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates in 1997. He has been actively involved with the Georgia chapter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation since its inception. In addition, he is past president of the Georgia Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and served as Governor for the Georgia chapter of the American College of Gastroenterology.
Dr. Brandenburg is recognized for his expertise in the areas of digestive diseases and inflammatory bowel disease and has been honored by Atlanta Magazine twice as one of the city's "top doctors."
